Healing art is a practice that is being applied to hospitals across the country and Aurora is no different. At Aurora, they firmly believe in the healing power of art and their support and commitment to this exhibit is just one more way they demonstrate that. Dr. Jim Weese, Vice President of Aurora Cancer Services, attended the March 29th awards reception for Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Centers 4th Annual National Arts Program® Exhibit. The exhibit showcased the artistic talents of the employees of this incredible medical center that spend their days giving compassion and care to the patients. The show is their chance to share a piece of themselves within their broader community and let their artistic talents take center stage.

Jill McNutt and Erin Hein, who are both Art Therapists with Aurora’s Cancer Services/ Expressive Arts for Healing, coordinate this fantastic NAP show.  Erin noted that the show was “really helpful in taking people’s minds off of the issues family members were going through at the hospital”. This is just one of the many reasons this program is perfectly suited for the hospital setting. This was the fourth year coordinating the National Arts Program® Exhibit for Jill and Erin and they certainly outdid themselves. Their participation grew considerably from last year and the result was a beautiful display of 182 artworks from 107 artists.
