Carilion Clinic Utilizes Facebook for “People’s Choice” Voting
The Third Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program® for Carilion Clinic employees and their family members was a fantastic occasion. There were many officials in attendance at the May reception including; Virginia State Senator John Edwards, Steve Arner the President and CEO of Carilion Medical Center, Sheila Lambert the Vice President of Carilion’s Pediatric and Guest Services, and Carilion’s Chief Development Officer Kay Strickland. They were there to honor both the artists and The Dr. Robert L. A. Keeley Healing Arts Program.
Maria Webb is the exceptional coordinator behind the show and ensures a wonderful experience is had by every single participating artist. Her dedication is the reason for the huge boost in participation and resulted in a fifty percent increase. The end result of her promotional efforts was a beautiful exhibit that included 143 works of art hung in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Once again Maria incorporated a People’s Choice Award by uploading pictures of all of the artworks as well as information about each entry to their Facebook page where visitors could vote for their favorite piece. Voting this year went smoothly according to Maria who also accepted votes via phone, text and email from those who don’t use Facebook. In the end the People’s Choice winner was teen artist Ethan Spencer for his painting entitled “On the Shores of Life” (pictured) which received an amazing 258 Likes on Facebook! When asked about his piece here is what Ethan had to say, “I love boating and spending time on the water because it is peaceful and serene. I tried to capture my love of the beach, water, and boating through this painting.”
