Carlsbad Employees To Exhibit Artwork

CARLSBAD–The City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office is hosting the seventh showing of “On Your Own Time: The National Arts Program® at Carlsbad” featuring art by City of Carlsbad employees and their families beginning June 20 through July 12 at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery in the Carlsbad City Library Complex.

The event, held at 1775 Dove Lane, in Carlsbad, will include an exhibition of artworks by 117 employees and family members, ranging from photography and watercolor to metal sculpture and fiber crafts.

This year, cash prizes in sixteen classifications will be awarded to participants for original, creative works in the field of fine arts and crafts.

The submissions will be judged by an awards committee made up of Arts Commissioner Joann Johnson, Carlsbad artist Ron Juncal and Encinitas artist TJ Dixon, who are all also members of the Gallery Advisory Committee of the William D. Cannon Art Gallery.

“On You Own Time,” sponsored by the National Arts Program Foundation, Inc., fosters creativity by providing artists of every level and age the opportunity to exhibit their works publicly.
Since 1985, The National Arts Program® has provided scholarships for continuing art education, certificates of participation, and cash awards to public employees and their family members who participate in this annual exhibition.

The National Arts Program® currently runs 78 programs, encompassing more than 400 cities and counties, in 43 states and the District of Columbia.
