Employee E-Newsletter Spotlights NAP Winners

The Seventh Annual NAP Exhibit entitled "Colors of Pinellas" was highlighted in the March issue of The Pen, Pinellas Employee Newsletter. The Pen reached out to the first place winners in all five categories plus Best of Show and People’s choice, asking them a few questions about their artwork. The result was an article on the cover of last month’s newsletter featuring the five artists who responded.

One of the first place winners, Paula Van Dalen who is an employee in the Sheriff’s Office, won for her photograph "Untitled" in the amateur category. The photo (pictured right), which Paula says, "was snapped in an ordinary place", was taken at the Waddle House located on Treasure Island proving that artistic inspiration can come from anywhere.  Paula also mentions that photography is a big part of her life and that she hopes to capture more beauty after she retires.  Rob Farnell, who is also featured, credits his always being ready and prepared for his success in creating his winning image “Calm Before the Storm”.

In addition to highlighting these winning artists, the front page article provides Pinellas County, FL with another way to reach out to their employees about the program.  The electronic newsletter is sent to every employee within the county and not only serves as a way to connect the community, but can help encourage those employees who did not participate to enter next year.
