Governor Visits State of Delaware NAP Exhibit
Delaware Governor, the Honorable John Carney, made a visit to the National Arts Program Delaware State Employee Art Exhibition.
This year for the State of Delaware’s 13th Annual National Arts Program Exhibit Delaware’s Governor, the Honorable John Carney (pictured here), made a visit to the exhibition and spent time touring, learning about the artists, and asking questions about the artwork. He was impressed by the amazing talent of state employees and enjoyed taking in the show.
The Division of the Arts always make sure this exhibit is well publicized and accessible to all. They utilize their website as well as social media to bring awareness to the exhibition. They highlight artworks on their Facebook page and use it as a vehicle for the People’s Choice voting. Images of the full exhibition, the reception and awards ceremony, including the Governors visit are all also featured on their Flickr Page.
Kristin Pleasanton, Deputy Director of the Delaware Division of the Arts, and our longtime coordinator of this amazing exhibit said it’s exciting to recognize that this was our 13th National Arts Program Delaware State Employee Art Exhibition, and it continues to be a highlight of the year for many employees and their families. There are new artists every time, but there are also many who have participated for 10+ years.
The exhibit was professionally displayed in the beautiful Arts Center/Gallery at the Delaware State University once again. Kristin also decided to utilized part of their scholarship to hire a fine arts student from Delaware State University as a gallery assistant. This is a wonderful idea, especially when you consider they had 180 pieces of art that needed to be collected, hung, and labeled for this amazing show! The gallery assistant helped with installation, gallery monitoring, pick up and drop off and so much more.
This was another successful, beautiful showcase of the artistic talents of Delaware State Employees and their families. We are so grateful to Kristin Pleasanton and the Delaware Division of the Arts for coordinating this exhibition each year and bringing the employee community together!
