Health Arts Network at Duke (HAND) Partners with The National Arts Program®

After hosting an employee show for the last 30 years, HAND has partnered with the NAP to produce a joint employee show, adding award monies and scholarships to their already established show.
The Health Arts Network at Duke (HAND) hosted their 31st Annual Employee Art Show, but their first in partnership with the National Arts Program®. Olivia Woodford was looking for an infusion of ideas and a fresh look for their annual exhibition without changing the format too much. Enter the NAP with scholarship awards, ribbons, the slight change of hanging ALL the pieces (instead of just the winners) and for allowing immediate family members to participate.

The partnership was a huge success! The collaboration worked so well it was a record year for HAND with over 225 pieces hung throughout the hospital hallways. HAND treated all the participants to a lovely lunch reception; including live music, special guest speakers, and a wonderful slide show of all the winners that was shown during the awards presentation. The quantity of work was overshadowed not only by the quality of the work, but also by the family members who expressed their appreciation at being able to share their pieces with the hospital community. Congratulations to this year’s winners.
