Lincoln Libraries Showcase Incredible Talents of their Community

First time coordinator Alma Cerretta organized the Eighth Annual Exhibit of The National Arts Program® for the City of Lincoln and Lincoln Public School Employees and their family members. Alma was committed to producing a wonderful show and the 100 pieces of art collected were proudly displayed throughout the Eiseley, Gere, Walt and the Bennett Martin Branch Libraries. Alma commented that, “it was such a valuable experience, to meet all of these people and see all of the wonderful artwork that the Lincoln community had to offer.”

 

The show included an exceptionally high quality of work and many large scale pieces as big as 48” x 48”, making for a very attractive display. In addition, the artists took great care this year with both the framing and overall presentation of their pieces. The show may also expand in future years as the City of Lincoln has a newly established exhibition space in City Hall that could potentially be a perfect place to exhibit the winning pieces.

 

Over 200 guests were estimated to be in attendance at the reception and presentation of awards, which was held at the Bennett Martin Library location on April 4^th. During the reception, Lincoln Arts Council Executive Director, Deb Weber, was approached by the father of two youth artists that were both the recipients of NAP Continuing Education Scholarship Awards. He explained just how important an opportunity like this was for his two children.

 

Lincoln was also able to take advantage of the NAP Non-Matching Scholarship monies to improve the professionalism of the exhibit. Alma stated that these scholarship funds are vital to the Lincoln Arts Council because, as a small non-profit, it is difficult to find funding for this type of programming. 

 

We look forward to seeing how Alma along with the Lincoln Arts Council continue to improve upon an already wonderful exhibit in the years to come!
