Manchester Puts “Art on the Wall” at City Hall

This year Manchester coordinator Vicki Ferraro was challenged with planning around the renovations taking place in city hall. These were the first significant improvements made to the interior of the 171 year-old building since the complete City Hall restoration in 1998. City hall is not only the site of their National Arts Program® Exhibit but the award reception also takes place in the Aldermanic Chambers on the third floor. Since Vicki has so much experience coordinating this successful event each year, she handled it seamlessly. Although space was limited, there were a total of 117 pieces created by participants from various city departments, Manchester School District, retirees and volunteers that were displayed throughout the building. 

 

In addition to the existing National Arts Program® Awards, this year Manchester generously provided a cash prize of $100 to both their People’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice awards. Mayor Gatsas who has always been a strong supporter of the show, is present at each and every annual award reception eager to congratulate the participants and pose for pictures with the winners. This year the Mayor chose an amazing piece entitled ‘Evening in Manchester’, by Lori Sweeney as the recipient of his award.

 

Daniel Bérubé won the People’s Choice award this year for his photograph entitled “Faces”. Daniel took to Facebook saying he was, “Extremely proud and honored to be awarded the “People’s Choice” Award for my practical composition “Faces” as part of the National Arts Program® 11th Annual City Employee Art Exhibit Awards Ceremony!”
