The University of Arizona has been partnering with the National Arts Program® for eight years but this was Coordinator Pamela Wagner’s very first year running the show. As the new chair she not only had to learn the process but had the additional challenge of installing the show in a brand-new space on campus. The space was so new that in fact the staff hadn’t even moved into the building yet! In the end,the venue made a beautiful exhibition space filled with natural light and plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the artwork. Pamela outdid herself by designing economic/environmentally friendly, portable and re-usable display walls that are an investment in the future of the show! The walls were set around permanent concrete pillars currently in the gallery space.

In addition to her economically friendly exhibit walls, Pamela took full advantage of the campus offerings that were available to her. All the campus communications (Daily Wildcat, UA Facebook, UA Twitter, Lo Que Pasa newsletter) were donated. The judges donated their time, as did the campus police who provided additional drive-by and walk through security during the show. They even had A-frame boards outside of the event professionally created by the campus sign department at no charge.

Pamela made sure the reception was enjoyed by all and incorporated soft music, snacks and a People’s Choice presentation! We are so grateful for Pamela’s dedication and creative can-do spirit that will surely help this show to flourish in years to come!
