Orlando International Airport Shares Its Creative Talents

The NAP is always amazed by the level of creativity that comes out of our shows across the country and Orlando International Airport (OIA) is no different. Their 2015 exhibition was filled with unique pieces of art created by airport employees and their immediate family members. One such creative piece from this year’s show was “Information Highway” by Doug Powell (pictured). The craft piece, which won First Place in the Professional category, was entirely made up of computer keys! The multi-color keys create a pattern from a distance, only revealing themselves as computer parts when the viewer takes in the artwork close up. Another great piece from this year’s show was “Horses on Wood” by Jenna Slater, an Intermediate artist. The mixed media piece, which utilizes wood for the canvas, also caught the eye of the judges who awarded it ‘Best of Show’.
With a third of this year’s art being contributed by first time participants, the opportunity to bring forward these wonderful pieces of art in the OIA would not be possible without the help of our dedicated venue coordinator, Vera Walker. To recognize Vera for all her hard work organizing the show and to celebrate the tenth year of OIA hosting the program, the NAP asked Phil Brown, the Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, to present her with our Tenth Anniversary award at the reception.
The NAP looks forward to seeing what the future holds for the creative minds of OIA!
