The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center and Guadalupe Cultural Arts and Education Center will present the Re-THINK Trash Art Exhibit from 1 to 3 p.m. July 20.

The Re-THINK Art Exhibit will have on display art made from recycled materials found in the Guadalupe-Nipomo dunes and beach areas made by local residents.

An average of 14 billion pounds of garbage, mostly plastic, is poured into the ocean each year. The Dunes Center hopes to inspire visitors of the exhibit to think of trash in new and different ways and spread awareness of the harm trash is doing to our local beaches.

Starting at 1 p.m. that Saturday, the Dunes Center and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts and Education Center will be open for visitors to view local artist’s trash art. Most of the pieces, such as paintings and sculptures, will also be available for purchase. Each piece will have a short description of where the pieces were found, what inspired the artist to create the piece and how it was put together.
