Santa Rosa, CA Has Wonderful New Coordinator for 22nd Annual Showcase
"Golden Gaze" by Teen Artist, Sophie Qin, took home First Place for her beautiful painting pictured here.
This was the City of Santa Rosa’s 22nd Annual National Arts Program Exhibition but the first for new coordinator Meredith Knudsen. Meredith is the Arts and Culture Coordinator for Santa Rosa and she commented that “Coordinating this show was such a rewarding experience! It was wonderful to see artists of all ages and skill levels come together and showcase their work.”
The show was on display in the Finley Community Center from February 3rd through April 18th and included 156 artworks from 152 participating artists. The reception to celebrate these amazing artists took place on March 9th and included first time teen musicians from the Play it Forward Foundation. These musicians were invited to perform in the lobby and entertained the visitors as they took in the showcase. The participants were honored by Vice Mayor Eddie Alvarez, who presented the awards and invited each artist to come up to the stage and take a photo with him. Mayor Alvarez’s speech emphasized the importance of the program for their community, its long-term impact, and the need to continue to support the arts.
The National Arts Program would like to thank Coordinator Meredith Knudsen, special guest Vice Mayor Alvarez, and especially the 150+ talented artists who shared their creations for everyone to enjoy!
