Society for the Arts in Healthcare’s 23rd Annual International Conference

The Society for the Arts in Healthcare’s 23rd annual international conference, "Arts & Health: A Global View", took  place May 2 to 5, 2012, at the Westin Book Cadillac hotel in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Hosted by Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, the Conference, which the NAP has attended several times, is an opportunity to immerse yourself in arts and health best practices, programs and cutting-edge research.

The conference featured renowned keynote speakers and performers, including Richard Florida, PhD and Richard Kogan, MD. Hundreds of artists, medical professionals, hospital administrators, and arts representatives were in attendance and presentations were given by leaders of model programs from all over the globe.

With over 1,700 international members, the Society is dedicated to advancing arts as integral to healthcare by demonstrating the valuable roles the arts can play in enhancing the healing process; advocating for the integration of the arts into the environment and delivery of care within healthcare facilities; assisting in the professional development and management of arts programming for healthcare populations; providing resources and education to healthcare and arts professionals; encouraging and supporting research and investigation into the beneficial effects of the arts in healthcare.
