Denise Taylor was rushing through the St. Paul skyway to a doctor's appointment this week when she suddenly stopped and found herself confronted with one of life's key questions.
"What do I want to do before I die?" she asked herself.
The Maplewood grandmother was standing before an art project covering temporary construction walls in the Alliance Bank building. The skyway-level display resembles a large chalkboard, asking passers-by to finish the thought: "Before I die I want to ... ."
The 52-year-old Taylor picked up a white piece of chalk and filled in one blank with: "see the whole world."
Downtown office workers, residents and visitors who usually rush past the site without a thought have been crowding around the project since it went up Monday. Some are contemplating their life's choices, while some are simply reading those of others.
Named "Before I Die," the project serves, in a way, as a bucket list for St. Paul residents. The project has room for 168 responses.
