Underground Arts: Eat, drink and buy art
Featured on philly.com
Pancakes and alcohol, you say? While I usually have coffee with my pancakes, I was intrigued when I heard about the Pancakes and Booze Art Show at Underground Arts in Philadelphia on Saturday, Aug. 16. Who can say no to a feast for all your senses? Emerging artists are bringing their own unique creations to this show that will also include food, drink and live entertainment.
Peruse the painting, sculpture, photography and other art forms of over 50 emerging artists over drinks, and when you get hungry, hop over to the All-U-Can-Eat Pancake Bar. Be daring and express your own creativity with body paint and jam out to the spinning styles of DJ Adam Bennett.
Some of the scheduled artists include: Michael Weaver (embroidered drawing and abstract fibers sculptures), Larodge Johnson (photography), Kristin Rudy (photography), Ryan Marchese (photography), Emily Rose Youcis (painting and animation), John Speaker (who will be live painting at the show), Meganne Peck and Kate Hart of An Abstract Hart and Paj Design Studio, and Kimberly Hughmanic Connelly (sculpture). Matt Eyer of Wear Liberty will also be in attendance with his graphic t-shirts that celebrate the art, history and culture of Philadelphia.
This is an over-21-only event, so make sure you leave the kids at home. There is a $5 cover at the door and the drinks are pay as you go. The doors open at 8 p.m. and you will have until 2 a.m. to gorge yourself on pancakes, booze and art. How many pancakes can you eat? Come out and see. Now, I just have to figure out what wine pairs well with pancakes.
