This was the fourth year that the National Arts Program collaborated with the Staff Advisory Council of the University of Arizona to once again present the “On Our Own Time Art Exhibit”. This wonderful mix of art from all ages and levels of ability showcases the beautiful diversity of the University of Arizona community. Coordinator Claudia Arias did an amazing job getting the artists to participate and executed an outstanding display and awards reception. This was no easy feat as The Union Gallery Space has a new manager put in place each and every year and the annual show must work into the ever changing schedule of this busy campus gallery. We applaud Claudia and all the volunteers that made this event a success once again.
The show included 111 artists this year and exhibited over 180 works of art. Of special note were the youth and teen pieces which showed an exceptional amount of talent well beyond their years. The show was opened up to the youth and teen artists only four years ago when the UA Staff Advisory Council first partnered with the NAP. I think everyone would agree these young artists bring something truly magical to the shows overall viewing experience. One shining example of the young talent at the University is a piece entitled ‘Renaissance Sculpture’ by teen artist Ryan Hunt (pictured).

The National Arts Program looks forward to continuing our partnership with the University of Arizona Staff Advisory Council. We hope this show will only continue to grow and thrive for many many years to come.
