University of Maryland Medical Center’s First Year Shines

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) first contacted the National Arts Program® about hosting an employee art exhibit after an employee attended the awards reception for the NAP exhibit at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2012.  After speaking with the C2X Healing Arts Team, the NAP knew UMMC would be a great fit.   

The UMMC building is a state of the art facility in downtown Baltimore where open balcony floors and glass elevators allow employees to see all throughout the hospital making it the perfect setting for the exhibit.  

NAP Coordinator Rachel Hercenberg, Project Specialist, did a tremendous job hosting the reception. The open air lobby was complete with a harp player and keynote speakers from hospital management that included both the President & CEO, Jeffrey Rivest and C2X Director, Kerry Sobel. The three judges announced the winners in each of the categories and remarked about their experiences judging a show with such a variety of mediums. Over 250 people attended the opening reception to view to artwork of more than 100 employees; and when Intermediate Shanice Wollcock was awarded the Best of Show, it definitely seemed to be a crowd favorite.

As a first time exhibition we would like to tip our hat to the University of Maryland Medical Center and the C2X Team for doing a wonderful job showcasing the talent of their employees.
