Katy Perry mends heart with art

Katy Perry‘s filling the John Mayer-shaped void in her life with art.

“I’m going to slowly become an art collector,” Perry, 29, told E! News at MOCA’s 35th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles Saturday. “Today, we had an all-day art crawl. We got to see some private collections from some people’s homes and then we went to a couple of galleries.”

The singer spent the weekend admiring works by Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and Jeff Koons.

“What I’m really drawn to is modern contemporary art and pop art, of course,” she said. “Also some key photography. I’ve always loved Cindy Sherman and today I got interested in Lee Friedlander … This is all brand new. I’m really interested in having an art history education.”

A newfound appreciation for art isn’t the only change for Perry since splitting from the “Your Body is a Wonderland” singer after more than a year together. She also told E! News that she was giving serious consideration to dying her hair “slime green.”

Mayer, on the other hand, has taken to a decidedly more low-key route to recovering from the split — spending more time at the club.
