The World’s Busiest Airport Showcases Employee Artwork

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a shining example of how art can transform a space. Their installations and rotating exhibits make visiting the airport a memorable experience and the addition of their National Arts Program® exhibit has changed the way that employees are engaging with both passengers and their greater airport community.

David Vogt along with Katherine Dirga from the Airport Art Program coordinated this amazing show for the third time. David has chosen to host it every other year due to an extremely exciting and busy series of rotating exhibitions which are showcased throughout the airport. Their National Arts Program® employee show has become so popular though that they anticipate having to display it in additional gallery spaces in 2018. This year the artworks were beautifully arranged in the extensive Gallery T cases as well as throughout the Atrium Gallery which was also the site of the April 27th awards reception.

Miquel Southwell the Aviation General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (pictured left), the world’s busiest airport, joined the large crowd in the main atrium to celebrate their 2016 National Arts Program® Exhibit. Miguel is extremely supportive of the Airport Art Program and also of his employees. He took time to thank the artists and the esteemed judges, Justin Rabideau, Director and Katy Malone, Outreach + Education Coordinator, from the Zuckerman Museum of Art (pictured right). After he presented the final NAP award of the evening, the artists and officials gathered together for a wonderful group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
