NAP exhibit is considered a cornerstone of MSP art programming

With the continued growth of the amazing art program at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), it was no surprise that Art@MSP would be bringing on an additional staff member to help with their fantastic exhibitions.  Enter Sam Fuentes, the new Exhibitions Coordinator for Art@MSP.  In his role, Sam would be overseeing all the exhibits at the airport including the annual NAP show.  From the very beginning, Sam was excited about the exhibit and the chance to be offering such a unique opportunity to airport employees and their family members.

 

Even with previous coordinator Ben Owen available for guidance during the process, Sam was amazed by the sense of community the show brought to the airport. “Everyone at MSP sees the opening reception of this exhibit as the biggest party of the year. At 240 attendees, it’s one of the largest casual gathers of the MSP community,” he commented.  Combined this with the awards and Sam believes that this exhibition is, “arguably the best community engagement initiative put on by the Airport Foundation.”

 

Add the extreme level of professionalism to which the artwork is displayed and it’s no wonder so many people are drawn to becoming part of such a supportive community.  Even hectic travelers who would usually be found rushing down the moving sidewalks to get to their next destination, are found to slow, if not stop altogether, to take in the artwork on display in the Thomson Reuters C Concourse Gallery.  With close to 200 pieces of art on display, it’s clearly an exhibition not to be missed if you’re traveling through the airport.
