Amita Health Offers Hope & Healing with Virtual Showcase

Coordinator Susan Kett decided to go fully virtual with their National Art Program exhibit this year in order to continue offering the opportunity to the Amita Health community during the pandemic. Their goal was to encourage the use of the arts to facilitate self-expression and even healing during this difficult time.

Sue was blown away with the response when she received 367 artwork entries for the virtual show! She told us, “There is clearly a real need for art and the self-expression it offers. Our exhibit, as you know, has never achieved this kind of turn out. The virtual format has enabled many more individuals to participate across our very large healthcare system. There were so many new participants from hospitals and outpatient centers that have never participated in the past. I believe that this virtual event did serve us well and feel that in years to come, the show will continue to grow and have deep meaning within our system.”

For their virtual showcase Sue had their videographers create flip books of all 367 entries, that were then accessible by category on their main internal homepage. They also produced a wonderful video announcing the award winners that was made available in the same location and can also be viewed on the NAP website. The exhibit was even shared by the CEO of AMITA Health who encouraged everyone to view the show in his weekly emails.

As the show wrapped up Sue scheduled times for associates to pick up prizes, certificates and gift bags she had created for them. Cookies were provided as well as unique handmade journals created using marbled paper made by one of their cancer survivors. The journals were provided to the participants along with prompts encouraging their use in a healing way.  

We are so lucky to have Sue Kett as the coordinator for the Amita Health show. She truly understands the National Arts Program’s purpose and she worked hard to make their sixth annual show a success. Sue thanked us and said she, “remains most grateful to NAP for all of your unwavering support of this program. It is truly touching our organization in a very meaningful way. With the theme of Hope & Covid, the show reflected a lot of emotion, hope and beauty.”
