Fulton County Returns for 24th Year

Fulton County, Georgia was one of our venues that had to put everything on hold during the pandemic and were forced to postpone their long-standing National Arts Program exhibit. Coordinators Connie Cross and Amber Broughton were finally able to get this popular event back up and running this year with a showcase that ran from May 2nd through the 31st.  This was the 24th Annual showcase for Fulton County, Georgia employees, retirees and their immediate family members who were all invited to share their visual art talents. In total thirteen different county departments were represented in the collection of 80 works that was displayed in the Peachtree Gallery.

One piece that really stood out was the Best of Show Award winner entitled ‘Big World, Big Sky, Small Fire” which is a large-scale painting by Michi Meko (michimeko.com). Michi’s work incorporates the visual language of naval flags and nautical wayfinding, combined with romanticized objects of the American South. Michi is a professional artist who also works as an art instructor at the West End Performing Arts Center in Fulton County.

We want to send a big thank you to Amber and Connie for their dedication and efforts in making this show happen and we look forward to them coming back stronger than ever in 2023!
