Fabulous Display of Art for Atlantic Health, NJ
The lobby of the Morristown Memorial Hospital was all a buzz on the afternoon of June 9th as Atlantic Health celebrated the opening of their 5th Annual National Arts Program® Exhibition. The exhibition, which featured more than 200 pieces of artwork from the three hospital locations that make up the Atlantic Health hospital system, filled the entire lobby as well as the first floor hallway with an interesting collection of visual artworks.
Prior to the award ceremony, visitors to the hospital were entertained by live music from the local high school quartet. During the presentation, attendees were greeted by NAP Venue Coordinator, Maria Lupo and Atlantic Health President and CEO, Joseph Trunfio. In addition, Maria always secures a great guest speaker who has personal experience on how important the arts are to a hospital community. This year, guests were treated to two speakers; Karen Carbonello, MA, the President of Creative Heartworks, Inc and Deborah Visconi, Director of Operations for the medical center. Deborah’s speech was extremely heartfelt as this was her first experience with the NAP Exhibition since being newly appointed to her position. She commented that she was blown away by the artistic talent of the employees and even stated that she was inspired to enter a piece next year.
This year, Atlantic Health expanded their eligibility to include their Newtown Memorial location employees and their family members. To help make these participants feel like they are part of the exhibition, Maria has planned to install all the award winning pieces from this show at the second location. She has also scheduled to have another reception to celebrate the addition of this hospital to the exhibition and to make sure that everyone is recognized for their artistic talent.
