Neuse River Trail Flower

The Neuse River Trail is a 33-mile long paved greenway located in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina, running along the banks of the Neuse River from Falls Lake Dam to the town of Clayton (Wikipedia). One day in April 2015 I was walking a section of the trail near my home and spotted a dogwood tree. When I passed the tree and leaned over a hedge I found this beautiful flower silhouetted against the river. The greenish-brown background is the Neuse River.
