Stoneware vessel in sections to mark my life in thirds. I recently began using the cutting up of a finished piece to mask a vessel I didn't like. I called these pieces Fractured. While the first 3 were intentional, this one was not. As I cut I began reflecting on my career in clay. The most recent development was a transition from vases to more complex vessels. I began to wonder if by using the "Fractured Concept" that my practice had, in fact, been fractured. I finished the top with a very narrow opening to show a finish, but it's open. I don't know what happens when I transition. Inside is an irretrievable piece of paper with further, unfiltered self-reflection.
