"ARTWorks" Awards Ceremony Honors Winners

A Tuesday evening reception featured an awards ceremony honoring winners of the 13th annual “ARTWorks” competition that showcases the creative talents of City of Pittsburgh employees, their families and members of their households.

 

The City-County Building’s grand lobby currently serves as the setting of an impressive collection of paintings, photographs, drawings, pottery and other unique pieces of artwork. More than 115 City employees and their relatives (professional, nonprofessional and youth artists) submitted the 175 pieces on display.

 

“The ARTWorks competition provides an amazing opportunity for individuals to express their creativity, and this year’s participants represent more than a dozen City of Pittsburgh departments including Pittsburgh Police, the Fire Bureau, Emergency Medical Services and the Law Department,” according to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

 

The free exhibit – titled “ARTWorks: The National Arts Program In Pittsburgh” – allows artist of all skill levels the rare opportunity to exhibit their work as well as to compete for cash prizes and art education scholarships.
