Introducing the National Arts Program® Summer Intern
For the very first time in the foundation’s history we have invited a local student to assist us in a special project helping to showcase our annual exhibits. Our summer internship role was filled by the perfect candidate. Audrey has a passion for art and is organized, hard-working and thoughtful. Read on to learn a little more about Audrey and the project she has been working to complete for the NAP…
An Oil Painting by our very own NAP intern.
Q. What first sparked your interest in art?
A. I have always loved art. Many of my family members are artists and we always go to exhibits or are talking about art.

Q. What was the last art exhibit you visited or took part in?
A. The last art exhibit I attended was Visions of Arcadia at the Philadelphia Museum of Art which focused on Gauguin, Cézanne, and Matisse. Before that I visited the Van Gogh exhibit in the Spring at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Q. Who is one of your favorite artist? And why?
A. When I was younger I like Degas because of his ballerina painting. In addition to Degas’ work, I also really like Monet and other impressionist artists because of their use of color and “everyday” subject matter of the people and place around them.

Q. Why were you interested in interning at the National Arts Program®?
A. This summer I wanted to do something that involved art and work somewhere that valued art and creativity. The NAP is a great program that gives others an opportunity to display their own work that they are proud of.

Q. Tell us a little bit about some of your other interests/hobbies.
A. Other than art, I love playing tennis. I have been playing tennis since I was a little kid and in a month will start my fourth high school season. I am co-captain for this coming tennis season and am very excited.
The National Arts Program Foundation has been constantly working to evolve and expand our online presence. Coordinators at all of our annual exhibits across the country work hard to accomplish our mission and bring forth the art of everyday people that are doing extraordinary things. When the displays are taken down we like to showcase images on the website while looking forward to the next year. Some Coordinators offer so many wonderful pictures of the exhibits and awards receptions that they all can’t be shared on our venue pages. For this reason the NAP is happy to announce that our newly created Flickr Page will soon be accessible to all. It will be a great place to view images from current and past shows. A big thank you to Audrey for diligently working to organize over ten years of NAP exhibits!
