Brooklyn born/Jersey raised artist James Eugene is a hybrid artisan who skirts the line between traditional and digital art. As a graduate Atlanta College of Art (for multi-media and painting), and The Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art (for painting and illustration), James finds himself in a very unique position of being a classically trained artist, and digitally disciplined creative person. While being commissioned for many illustration works in his career, James considers himself a fine artist simply because of the vast amounts of personal fine works and collections that he has produced over the years.

Queen of Love & Light
Queen of Love & Light
Mixed Media
Queen of Love & Light is a mixed media painting of writer and good friend Meserette Kentake-Windbush. She just happens to resemble a powerful character in my drawings and writings, so I decided to paint her.
Setti
Setti

Setti represents a mixture of past and present women of the African Diaspora; looking to the hidden past to guide them to an uncertain future. She dresses very contemporary to represent living in the "now".
Ancient/Future Lounge
Ancient/Future Lounge

"Astante" combines all of the principal elements in my art style: contemporary figures, tribal & shamanistic esthetics, African & Egyptian elements, with a touch of the unseen future.
Future Sky Tribe
Future Sky Tribe
Mixed Media
"Future Sky Tribe" is a unique piece because it's both a painting on canvas and a artistic video. Feathers have great meaning in my work. They tend to represent an African bird (Sankofa), or a Native American tribe. This being is not quite in the present or future. I will often do this to create a tension between how things are now, and how thing "can be" in the foreseeable future-given the path that you choose.
Past/Future Guide
Past/Future Guide
Mixed Media
"Past/Future Guide" is just that. This piece represents the fact that our soul does not adhere to time, so you can learn from both instances.
Flux N.A.
Flux N.A.
Mixed Media
"Flux N.A." is a piece that in meant to fuse past transcending figures (josephine baker) with future un-named styles and trends, in accordance to the type of art that I produce. Also, pays homage to the fact that some great artists have to leave their home for the type of success and dignity that they deserve.
Future Memories
Future Memories
Mixed Media
"Future Memories' is a mixed media painting on canvas that is really going deep into my fascination with the past and future. I've combined near-contemporary elements, with tribal-like qualities, to create someone who may never materialize in the future unless all of the technological and shamanistic ingredients aligned together.
