This painting is from a photo I had taken at the Nebraska State Fair, the year before the fair was moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. The fair always included the Budweiser clydesdale horses. I loved seeing them at the fair. I loved the colors surrounding the horse and the man. It is a good memory!
Mikula

Painting
Mikula is an Amur leopard in the Lincoln Children’s Zoo in Lincoln, Nebraska. I took several photo of this magnificent animal in order to come up with a complete composition. He is not easily photographed with much vines, plexiglass and fencing from the viewing area. Amur leopards are endangered animals.

This painting was inspired by a young orangoutang playing in the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. He would swing from the branches, reach down and pick up food, then jump and slide under the vine you see in this pastel art. He made people smile and life. My Aunt calls this one “Big Red.”

Beach Beauty
Beach Beauty
Painting
This butterfly was on a windowsill at Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. Your really could not see out because of the moisture on the window. As I start applying the pastel…I felt like the shapes began to form for me in the background like the waves and clouds. This gave scene offered depth and an escape to a place I would enjoy. The butterfly then represents happiness and beauty within. The butterfly lands there for a moment and flutters away.

The border collie was at ball field in Geneva, Nebraska while my daughter was playing a softball game. I had my camera handy and took wonderful photos of the dog. I missed getting the owners contact information. I named the art after the town’s name. This is the second painting of the border collie.
