I'm here to honor the memory of my daughter Gabriella Joy through my artwork. Although she was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 (median lifespan about 10 days), our family unconditionally embraced her. One of the most memorable comments of this photograph is from a work colleague, who observed that something is "obviously" not right. For my family and I, we never did NOT acknowledge Gabriella's illness of Trisomy 18 (median lifespan about 10 days). Instead, we unconditionally embraced our beloved daughter and sister.
