Energy, vibrancy, and the movement of life catches my eye. I explore meditation, receiving energy from nature, and expressing this through painting.
With the sway of my hands and body, I imitate the lines of the plants or movement of the water. Once the pattern has flowed through my system, I work over the flat canvas allowing water to wash and the first shadow of the painting to emerge. This practice is much like Sumi-e brush painting.

Dragon Flower / African Tulip
20"x16"
$190
Painted, sitting on top of a roof in Kaneohe, Hawaii. This way I could get close to the African Tulip full bloom and look down into them.
It reminds me of the breath of a fire breathing dragon.
