I am an aspiring artist who finds inspiration in music, the beauty of nature in my home state of Georgia & the small details of the day.I began painting again in 2009 when my daughter went away to college. It is my therapy & escape. The honor was bestowed on me to have 4 of my pieces chosen by Georgia Council for the Arts to hang in the State Capitol of Georgia. In April‘16, The Tybee Lighthouse & Augusta Beauties hung in the State Capitol thru October‘16.And in January‘18, Savannah's Little Lighthouse & Heaven for a View will hang in the Georgia State Capitol thru June‘18
Savannah's Little Lighthouse
Savannah's Little Lighthouse
Painting
Savannah’s Little Lighthouse is my rendering of the Cockspur Island Lighthouse at the mouth of the Savannah River at Lazaretto Creek. It’s a combination of acrylics and watercolor pencils on 11×15 cold pressed watercolor paper. The history of the state’s smallest lighthouse is quite fascinating to me. It is quite remote and can only be reached by boat. In my youth, I used to always think it looked so lonely, out in the mouth of the river, when we would drive past it on our way to Tybee. Enjoy!
Heaven for A View
Heaven for A View
Painting
Heaven for a View is an acrylics on water color paper piece. Inspired by the views I grew up with, I wanted to try and capture the beauty of the marshes that not only I loved, but those that my dad and grandmother loved too. Created in June 2017, the month that holds both Father’s Day and what would’ve been my dad’s 76th birthday, this one is for Dad!
Augusta Beauties
Augusta Beauties
Painting
Augusta’s Beauties – my pastel piece inspired by the pink dogwoods at Augusta National. They were in full bloom during the Masters’ tournament this year and they were beautiful!!! Original is soft chalk pastels on 11×14 smooth Bristol paper.
The Tybee Lighthouse
The Tybee Lighthouse
Painting
The Tybee Lighthouse is an 11×14 water color pencil piece. It is my interpretation of The Tybee Lighthouse and it is dedicated to my dad for Fathers’ Day and his birthday (also this month of June). He grew up on Historic Tybee Island and always loved the ocean, the beaches, the marshes and the salt water. He taught me how to love and appreciate all of those too.
