I am a native New Mexican artist working with oil paint. I love using my art as a means to tell stories that are meaningful to me. I work mainly in stilllifes and landscapes because I am drawn to the stories and experiences that are intertwined with the object objects and places.
2019, oil on canvas, 24”x30”x1”. Growing a lemon tree in Colorado can be a difficult task. They have to be brought in for the winter to survive, but they also have to endure hail storms in the summer. After one particular storm, I went to inspect the damage and my son came with me. After showing my son he looks at me and asked “What, the hail did this?”. I love how the blossoms somehow remained un-damaged.
