I started sewing at the age of 7, fascinated by watching my mother as she made clothing for my sisters and me. My love for sewing has branched out into other handcrafts: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, etc. Most of the items I make are given as gifts to friends and family. I recently discovered the art of mosaic quilting, and my first attempt is the portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that I entered into the Tacoma Municipal National Arts Program Show. I love how the artwork is an optical illusion - from up close it's merely a jumble of small pieces of fabric, but from several feet away you can see that it is actually a remarkab
