VJ Starr aka Valerie Ralph was born in Boston, Massachusetts. After retiring from Northwest Airlines (now Delta) 8 years ago VJ (now living in New Orleans) really discovered her love for fabric, yarn, thread, needles in general Stitching something. After taking 1st Place in the Intermediate category with her Hand Stitched portrait of Louis Armstrong which was on Display for 3 months in the Atlanta Hartsfield International airport VJ's family is now convinced (especially her 90 year old Mom) that she is serious about her work. That is why VJ says "My Thread Is My Paint"
