Jerryl's introduction to the art world began the first day she picked up a crayon. In early days her focus was on portraits and still life images. Today, her art work has taken on a style of its own in abstract form, much of which is owed to artist & child prodigy Alexandra Nechita for having inspired Jerryl to paint from her heart rather than from her eye.
To Jerryl, art is about mood, tone and feeling..so she focuses on painting her heart felt emotions on canvas, filling her work with layers of color, depth and movement.
Jerryl's credits include participation in and awards from the National Arts Program Foundation, Winter Park Doggie Art
'CATCHING MY TEARS'
'CATCHING MY TEARS'
Painting
'CATCHING MY TEARS' captures an expression of love & acceptance in a comforting moment as a man and woman embrace. The man is holding an umbrella over her head to protect her from the rain. She has been hurt badly and so he catches her tears.
2 Corinthians:
3-5All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.
6-7When we suffer for Jesus, it works out for your healing and salvation. If we are treated well, given a helping hand and encouraging word, that also works to your benefit, spurring you on, face forward, unflinching. Your hard times are also our hard times. When we see that you're just as willing to endure the hard times as to enjoy the good times, we know you're going to make it, no doubt about it.

'Spaghetti Lovers'
'Spaghetti Lovers'
Painting
SPAGHETTI LOVERS :
Captures the rejoicing of two lovers over the gifts of pasta, wine, and serenade. All we have are gifts from God and for everything we should be grateful.
Deuteronomy 8 :
"So it's paramount that you keep the commandments of God, your God, walk down the roads he shows you and reverently respect him. God is about to bring you into a good land, a land with brooks and rivers, springs and lakes, streams out of the hills and through the valleys. It's a land of wheat and barley, of vines and figs and pomegranates, of olives, oil, and honey. It's land where you'll never go hungry—always food on the table and a roof over your head. It's a land where you'll get iron out of rocks and mine copper from the hills.
After a meal, satisfied, bless God, your God, for the good land he has given you."

'In My Dreams'
'In My Dreams'
Painting
'IN MY DREAMS' :
A man sings a song of his desire to be by both the mountains and the sea. The woman kneels behind him and embraces him in acceptance of his dream. When we accept one another we can better work off of one another to accomplish great things.
Romans 15:
" May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we'll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus!
So reach out and welcome one another to God's glory. Jesus did it; now you do it! Jesus, staying true to God's purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them. As a result, the non-Jewish outsiders have been able to experience mercy and to show appreciation to God."

' Begging for the Brass'
' Begging for the Brass'
Painting
'Begging for the Brass':
Without expectations, only hope in their hearts, two homeless musicians lend their souls to the street as their dog begs for more.
Psalm 33:3
"Sing to Him a new song;Play skillfully with a shout of joy."
3 From heaven the LORD looks down
and sees all mankind;
14 from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth-
15 he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.
16 No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20 We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.

'THE LIGHT WITHIN MY HEART'
'THE LIGHT WITHIN MY HEART'
Painting
'The Light Within My Heart' illustrates
that our love and faith in God
is the only TRUE light..that our belief, trust, faith, and love ( the light)
helps guide us through darkness- how it is an eternal light..
a light that can never be snuffed out as long as we believe...
and that God Himself is the TRUE light and all is possible with HIM.
The figure in the work is holding a lantern in one hand..
but the lantern is dark-
it has gone out-it is not a TRUE light..but a worldly light..
but the light from the figure's heart shines down
onto the Bible ....God's WORD..the TRUE path..the TRUE way...
it is internal, and eternal, and can never fail if one BELIEVES. Look closely and you will see that the light shines down on a passage from scripture; Matthew 19:26 - 'WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE'.

'FAITHFUL at all COSTS'
'FAITHFUL at all COSTS'
Painting
30x30 oil on canvas
Portrays Daniel in the lion den. A reminder to be faithful and always have hope no matter how bad the situation.
'FAITHFUL AT ALL COSTS'
'Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.' Ephesians 6:16 (Message)
16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (NIV version)
In Daniel's act of obedience to God's command in spite of the King's decree and the experience in the Lion's Den, we find an example of just how we should live in the center of His will.
God knew that Daniel would be faithful and continue to pray to God. Daniel even continued to pray in full view of his enemies, although the consequences were great indeed. Daniel obeyed the Lord and continued to carry out His Will. We need to understand the significance of this act of faithfulness and submission on Daniel's part and learn to live our lives in submission to the Lord each day.
STANDING AT MY TALLEST
STANDING AT MY TALLEST
Painting
30x40 oil on canvas: Standing At My Tallest illustrates that if one fully submits themselves in complete surrender to the Lord, He will , in their weakness, make them strong. ALL BATTLES SHOULD BE FOUGHT ON ONES KNEES.The painting depicts a figure on his knees in full surrender at the cross.(as one can see the crosses in the backgorund of the work) 'Know that battles are God’s tools. One of the most important lessons is to see all adversity as coming from Him. This truth will protect you from bitterness, resentment, and hostility towards those who wrong you. Romans 8:28 says, “We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (emphasis added). In a battle, one may lose money, pride, or control over a situation. But if the struggle brings them to the point of total surrender to the Lord, they will always win—spiritually speaking.
You will have comfort, confidence, and assurance. There is nothing more powerful than having the Creator of the universe on your side.
_ The Father encourages us. When we spend time one on one with Him, His Word and His Spirit lift us up.
_ Prayer gives believers insight we can get no other way. On our faces before Him, we have the clearest view of the challenge ahead of us.
_ Talking with the Lord changes our focus. The enemy wants us to dwell on our problem—how we can defend ourselves or get revenge. Victory, however, is found in turning our eyes to God, the One who controls all things. He blesses those who are willing to trust and obey Him (Isa. 40:31).
_ You will have serenity. Believers who turn their burdens over to the Lord have supernatural peace even when situations and circumstances don’t change (Phil. 4:6-7).
What are you battling today? Does it seem as if God doesn’t see your pain or understand your heartache? Be assured- He knows exactly what you are going through. Go before the Father today and pray, “Lord, I don’t want anything in my life that displeases you. Take my bitterness, resentment, and anger. I give You this battle, and trust that You will turn it for my good in Your way and in Your timing.” My friend, you cannot lose fighting on your knees. Once a day, fall on your face before God and worship Him for who He is. Release your problems to almighty God, and you will find victory every time.'
Charles Stanley
Philippians 2:8-10 (New International Version)
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth
COMING HOME
COMING HOME
Painting
30x40 oil on canvas
COMING HOME, inspired by the song 'COME HOME' by Rick Yates and Tiffany Durr, tells the story of a girl who is asking God to be with her-to sit beside her and to talk and walk with her. God answers that he has always been with her and to just reach out to him. The figure in the painting, kneeling on the grass, does just that- we see a church in the background- The sky becomes Gods face and the grass becomes God's mighty right hand.'Kings daughters are among Your honorable women; At your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.' psalm 45:9 'You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.' psa 18:35 'My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.' psa 60:5.
The figure's white hair is symbolic of a bride's veil- and so she becomes the bride for whom Jesus returns. The many colors in the figure's neck illustrate that God does not discriminate... and the light from one of the church windows is indicative of someone now being HOME.
One is only HOME when he opens up his heart to God. We sometimes forget that God desires to come close to us, to enter intimately into our hearts. But God will not force a way. God will knock and wait. Sometimes the first step we have to make in opening the door is to set aside time and quiet ourselves enough to listen... Can you hear the church bells chiming?
* funny thing about this piece- Originally I had the figure in this work to be the figure in the piece titled 'STANDING AT MY TALLEST' -but it just didn't seem to be powerful enough an image of someone in full surrender. It wasn't until after talking with a friend who told me that she is flat on her face on the floor when she is in full surrender that I decided to change the image. Instead of just painting over what I had already created, I put this one aside and started fresh on a brand new canvas. After 'STANDING At MY TALLEST' was completed I heard the song 'COME HOME' - and thats when it clicked that the image of the figure with its arms raised would become THIS new work, 'COMING HOME' .
