Brooke Connor uses alcohol markers to draw vivid animals with eyes that intend to interact directly with the viewer. Each drawing starts with a pencil sketch, to get the shapes and dimensions realistic. After the lines are inked, the pencil is erased, and color begins. The difference between simple coloring and art is in the layering of the colors. The transparent nature of the markers allows for the addition of multiple layers to get the colors to interact and to create texture.
