Hummingbird rotational movement created with pen and ink on paper, embroidery, and pastel. Actual nest with the tiniest of a flower inside inspired the embroidery of the hummingbird with thread from a spider web rendering.

Soft Pastel painting/drawing composed from a collage of images: I photographed the moon image and set up the portrait. The background rosette is inspired from a cathedral. The blossom is a star. It's about a mythology story: the goddess is in love with a male mortal and every night she comes to the earth to be with him.

Inspired by ARP 273 is a beautiful cosmic rose 300 million light years away. Looking back in time, interpreting these two distant galaxies coming together, merging as one body and soul, connecting us to the life force of our universe.

I question, what connects us to a particular place. The spirit of place creates the ingredients of community and belonging. Viewing an aerial image on Google earth, we are blind to the details of man’s life and history down on earth.
In the topography, we see shadows and elevations of mountains, lakes, hills, and desert. In contrast, as we zoom in further and further, we go on a more profound journey. Our eyes are opened to life, nature, and details of the built environment – man’s impressive handiwork.
