David Holmes
David Holmes grew up in a small town in New Hampshire and attended from the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating with a Graphic Design BFA in 1984, he worked at design firms in Florida. Seeking further opportunity he moved to Chicago and became Art Director, thus launching a career in advertising. He relocated to San Francisco and ultimately rose to the level of Creative Director. After 18 years in advertising, he made the decision in 2002 to work full-time as a painter.
His work has won numerous awards, been featured in books, magazines and newspaper articles. He has exhibited in galleries and shows across the US and in Europe. Named one of the "Super-Hot Artists for 2014", included in the "New American Paintings" catalog, won the 2012 National Society of Painters award, and chosen by the State Department for their "Art in Embassies" program. His painting "Welcome to Minneapolis" was displayed at the US Embassy in Sarajevo from 2011-2014.
He now happily resides in Minneapolis MN, where he continues to paint daily in his home studio.
