I have been immersed in the world of art since I was a child, constantly drawing or sculpting objects out of clay. However, I never had an opportunity to have formal education in art, as I had to be focused on my science career. I graduated college with a degree in Biology, and now work for the University of Arizona as a research technician. I have maintained art as a hobby, and continue to foster my growth through self-taught methods. I began painting with acrylics about five years ago, but I have experimented with many forms of media in the past.
Another Day in Paradise- Paria Beach, Trinidad and Tobago
Another Day in Paradise- Paria Beach, Trinidad and Tobago
Painting
"Another Day in Paradise," was inspired by a trip to Trinidad and Tobago. In this painting, I wanted to capture the beauty of this country, as well as immerse the viewer in the moment. Not only did I want to capture the peacefulness of the ocean, but I wanted to elucidate the liveliness of Trinidad by including bright colors.
Starry Night Drive
Starry Night Drive
Painting
In this painting I wanted to elicit both feelings of serenity and exhilaration, by including the peaceful, beautiful night sky and the Honda S2000. This is reminiscent of late night drives up the mountains, when the world is sleeping and darkness seems to extend for miles.
