Erica finds joy making art with her hands, whether with a pen, brush, fingers or a keyboard. She believes ALL have the divine spark of creation within. Being brought up in an unorthodox yet loving household enabled her to observe people, events and things in unusual ways. First falling in love with words, then drawing then numbers, all symbols pointing us along our mystical journey through life. As an artist, her favorite mediums are watercolor, charcoal and textured mixed media. Her art garage is based in Columbia, South Carolina where she produces most of her work. She and her husband also reside in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she has had numerous exhibits and one gallery. Her watercolor series include Palm Beach Memories, Travel the World, Asheville Aura, The Muses, and her abstract Elegant Universe. In her textured series, she loves working acrylics into the "wets" such as tile mix, plumber's joint compound and mod podge. Many of her pieces are based on her direct, keen observation of places, objects and people dear to her heart.

Works on Paper
This watercolor was painted in the Autumn of 2014 and is part of Erica's Asheville Aura Series. It is available in giclee prints in customized sizes. It is a view from downtown Asheville looking East over the top of the Baptist church, which has an unusual Romanesque shaped top. There is a gap sliced through the mountain for the road pass through, which is centered on the horizon.

Clouds Scudding By No. 2 is a watercolor on paper. Giclee numbers prints are still available. This painting is part of Erica's Asheville Aura series that she worked on from 2012-2021. This was painted en plein air from the rooftop of their building in Downtown Asheville. There was a waxing Half Moon rising from the East. With the sky as her rooftop, the artist attempted to capture the brusk movement of the pastel cloud formations at sunset. The piece's title is derived from one of the artist's poems written long before.

Chez Jean Pierre No. 2
Works on Paper
Chez Jean Pierre No. 2 is a watercolor in the artist's Palm Beach Memories Series. The focus of the piece is the emotion evoked on remembering a place as it used to exist. This restaurant was closed in response to the pandemic after two decades as a family run restaurant named for it chef-owner. Besides poignant memories, the artist is also portraying the vibrancy of the tropical palette as well as the evocative trade wind energy found in the Palm Beach of yesteryear. This series was started in 2010 and continues to evolve.
