I decided with the onslaught of COVID to attempt painting, ordering canvases online, brushes and paints that would be delivered and having no experience I began painting to occupy my time and ease my mind from the reality of COVID. To my delight I thoroughly enjoyed it. In addition to painting, I am a co-founder of the Sock It To Em Sock Campaign which is a 501C3 that provides new socks to men, women and children experiencing homelessness. Since 2012 we have provided over 860,000 pair of socks to those in need in 41 states.

I wanted to honor Ukraine and of course chose the Sunflower. The work is mixed media, acrylic and fabric. The fabric petals represent that the very fabric of Ukraine is democracy for which they are fighting. The seeds of the sunflower are dots representing the people of Ukraine which like seeds are the future that is yet to come.
