Painting

This little wolf seeks the warmth of the setting sun, knowing that mom is close by and looking out for their safety. These pups are exhausted after playing with their natural toys of sticks and falling leaves. All babies need their naps. Wolves rarely choose a life of a loner making them extremely vulnerable. www.ilenereed.com

Eye the tiger or else it could be you that’s what’s for dinner. This curious Bengal tiger is enjoying a swim and is twisting its ears towards the source of its interest. Unlike most cats, tigers enjoy the water and are never found far from it. Tigers are fantastic swimmers. Tigers back into the water as they do not like splashing water into their eyes. They are good swimmers and often cool off in pools or streams.
Indochinese tiger numbers are in shocking decline across its range because of shrinking habitats, expanding human populations, and the increasing demand for traditional medicines, folk remedies and wild meat. Tigers are the largest felines in the world. Many cultures consider the tiger to be a symbol of strength and courage.
Tigers are solitary creatures; they like to spend most of their time alone, roaming their massive territories looking for food. www.ilenereed.com

Keeping Baby Dry
Painting
Oil on Canvas Gallery Wrap 36" h x36" w x 1.5" d
An orangutan mother cuddles her baby and has placed a leaf on her head to try and keep both of them dry in the rain forest.
Orangutans “humans of the forest” have a prolonged childhood like humans. For the first several years, youngsters remain within an arms distance of their mothers.
The great apes live in the trees of the tropical Asian rainforest. These intelligent animals use simple tools like twigs to dig out honey in bee hives and termites in tree bark.
When it rains, it is not unusual for the mother orangutan to fashion a rain bonnet out of large leafs to keep baby dry.

The Biscuit Beggars
The Biscuit Beggars

Prospecting for gold in Colorado was a rough life for both prospectors and burros in the 1800s. During the harsh mountain winters when mining operations ceased prospectors often abandoned their hardworking burros. By the 1900s the free-roaming burros would wonder into town begging for biscuits and flapjacks knowing they could get an easy handout especially by the children. To this day it is not uncommon to see wild friendly curious burros lined up, heading to town to beg for a handout.
The Great Escape
The Great Escape
Painting
A sleek and graceful cougar known for his strength and awesome ability to jump makes his decision to attack as he leaps towards the deer. Once airborne, he has little control over where he will land, knowing it will be a hit or miss. The alert deer having heard the cat’s take-off wastes no time in swiftly leaping to safety. There will be another time for the cougar as he successfully closes 80% of all stalks with a kill. The deer has made this his great escape in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Super Blood Wolf Moon Serenade
Super Blood Wolf Moon Serenade
Painting
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, "Native Americans called the full moon the "Wolf Moon" because it appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages". The Almanac said "ancient peoples commonly tracked the seasons by following the lunar calendar. During a total lunar eclipse, the Earth blocks the light from the sun, giving the moon's surface a red glow, which many refer to as a "Blood Moon". These pups are trying to learn their spine tingling howl by imitating their mother.
