Jim Lux
As a computer science major at NCSU in the early 1980s, I needed a break from the science and math. To relieve some stress, I enrolled in a pottery class at the NCSU Craft Center. Half way through the semester, I stopped attending my classes and started spending most of the days making pots in the Craft Center. Those early days working in the studio and pit-firing with a group of potters were cathartic. I learned that the focus of my life could be focused on art: It was time to change the direction of my education. A year later, I transferred to ECU and earned my degree in Studio Art.
