As an immigrant with a different cultural background, emphasizing my cultural difference is a privilege that I have. A vague memory of childhood in Korea, but I was fortunate to remember the colors from the Korean Folk Art. My art emerges out of two cultures that exist inside of me. I depict the synthesis between Korea and America, by using the Korean traditional art color palette, Korean calligraphic brush strokes with influence of Cy Twombly’s Western painting technique.
