Patti’s Jewel Box - Description
•This jewel box consists of 20+ species and types of American and foreign hardwoods. (Most exotic hardwoods come from S. America, Africa, or Asia)
•The various techniques used include:
•Marquetry (flush veneer inlays) on both sides of top.
•Intarsia (3-dimensional carved wood mosaic inlays)
•Banding (narrow decorative inlaid borders. All are hand made.)
•Solid woods, burls, crotches, veneers
•The woods are selected for their natural color and grain. Exotic hardwoods are available in all colors except bright blue! Some dyed veneers are used in the banding.
•The front doors are floral intarsia: Left door is daffodils. Right door is roses & rosebuds
•The 4 Brazilian rosewood drawer fronts are from same section of wood.
