BIO | Dawn Cooper | b. 1965 | moonscribed@gmail.com
I a self-taught artist who grew up in the shadow of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I am a paralegal and have worked in the legal field since I was 17 years old. I like to tell people that I am a left-brained herder of divided attention spans by day and an insomniac hippie artist by night. I currently have my art exhibited at Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9) in Indianapolis where I am also the Operations Manager and Chief Art Pimp. You can find me at FC9 most every First Friday of the month making sure that our patrons don't miss any of the unique and wonderful original art on display by our gallery artists.

Great Blue Heron No. 2
Great Blue Heron No. 2
Painting
I did this painting for my dear friend Sara. Her weekend home was a long time dream for her late husband and her to share with family. It is located on Blue Heron Drive. I left this painting there one weekend when her family allowed me to escape a stressful situation and stay there for the weekend. Blue Herons have also long been a symbol to me of those who have passed in my life and seeing one fly by always gives me comfort that perhaps our loved ones keep watch over us after they move to the next phase of their journey into the universe.

Prolly Folly (2015)
Painting
My Grandfather has a picture in his kitchen of Folly Beach, SC (at least that's what I think he told me) and when I saw it I had to paint it for him. Since I wasn't totally sure it was indeed Folly Beach, I named it "Prolly Folly" cause I'm silly like that!
Peaceable Kingdom (2015)
Peaceable Kingdom (2015)
Painting
An old neighbor of mine had this fallen apple tree in his yard. In Winter it looks like a dead tree trunk that was never cleared away, but in Spring it blooms despite its predicament. This symbolized to me the one of the tenets of Buddhism, finding the beauty in suffering. The prog rock band, RUSH, has a song called "Peaceable Kingdom" which as most RUSH songs, contains double entendres and metaphysical messages for the listener to consider. Peaceable Kingdom is a song about the misdirected focus of wars, and on a more personal level, listening to your heart over listening to all the voices telling you what is best for you. Meanwhile, despite the obstacles created by man, life will find a way...from the mud, the Lotus blooms.
