I am a retired physician, now a fine art photographer. My photo "Great Grandma on the Tie-Dye Rack" won second prize in the professional division of this year's (2014) art contest at the University of Chicago Medicine.

Photography
I took this photo when visiting the second floor of an old building in Maine. The owner told me that this is a portrait of his great grandmother and must date back to the late eighteenth century or early twentieth century. I placed it on the rack where the owner used to tie-dye tee shirts for his customers and shot using a tripod. I liked the contrast of the old black and white photo with the multi-colored paint splatters. Also the old and new paraphernalia on the shelves add to this contrast.
This photo was recently included in a gallery exhibit in Johnson City, Texas. The theme of the exhibition was "Forgotten."
More recently, it won second prize in the professional division of the 2014 National Arts Program contest at the University of Chicago Medicine.
