I am a painter exploring how lines and panels of color can emphasize emotion and mood in my work. I use charcoal, acrylics, and oils to create portraits of people who have positively influenced my life. I also create portraits of imaginary creatures and people to help me sort through my feelings about life, social structures, aging, and the female experience.

Turkey vultures tend to disturb most people with their appearance. They may be one of the most physically unattractive birds, by no fault of their own.
The beauty that I see within these birds is the role that they play in our communities and ecosystems. They are negatively associated with death. But, my vision of them is that they are a necessary part of the process. The olive branch in this painting highlights the peace and closure that these birds are capable of offering.
