I am a 25 year old working professional-student. I have been painting on and off since I was 16 years old. I haven't had any formal instruction, except for one or two art classes. Painting has always been a great outlet and a past-time for me.
I am, what I would consider to be, an abstract painter. I enjoy using acrylic and oil paints. I paint with the intention of expressing my mood at the time. I use color to showcase the ups and downs of thoughts. I leave it to the viewer to interpret what they would like from my paintings. I don't expect the viewer to find definite structure in my paintings, but to take from the painting what
Night & Day Monet
Night & Day Monet
Painting
I am a huge fan of Monet and the Impressionists. Their mix of colors and short brush strokes still mystify me. I painted this after studying Monet and took one of his paintings (although he did several versions of this), and experimented with the day side by combining colors I would usually mix for shading. In the night side, I used a dull orange and yellow to combine with the blue to create a darker tone, but without using a black or grey color.

My sketches usually start out with a doodle of a central shape (however obscure it is) and then find an environment/color for it.
Blue Green

Painting
This is probably one of my favorite works I've done. I love how the greens and blues mix together, as is my intent in my paintings. I enjoy how I can view this painting from any angle (horizontal or vertical) and it still is an interesting work.
